For its latest high-end smartphones, such as the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the Sony Xperia XZ1, the Sony group has chosen to offer a photo sensor technology with a memory layer, enabling it to offer original features such as ability to achieve slow motion at nearly 1000 frames per second.

This type of photo sensor with integrated memory layer is also under development at other manufacturers, including Samsung. And according to the ET News site, it could be part of the paraphernalia of the future Galaxy S9 smartphone expected early next year.

At Samsung, this photo sensor with DRAM would enter production in November, allowing time to integrate it into the Galaxy S9. It remains to be seen whether the future smartphone will also offer a dual photo sensor, such as the Galaxy Note 8 this year.

The Galaxy S9 should also still offer a 5.8-inch diagonal Infinity display with a new SoC SnapDragon 845. The integration of the fingerprint reader into the screen would only happen with the next top model, namely the Galaxy Note 9.
