The iPhone back in Argentina after 6 years of absence

After six years of absence, the iPhone is back in the Argentine market, but its return is at a high price, which puts it out of reach of the majority of the population. The iPhone 7 is far from the most accessible smartphone in France, but in Argentina, its price is simply aberrant. In 2011 the Argentinian government adopted a measure aimed at encouraging foreign brands to settle in the country by offering them advantageous taxation provided they come to produce their items on Argentine soil. In return, other brands were subject to exorbitant customs duties. Apple had thus refused to move to Argentina and stopped marketing its products in the country, not wishing to pay customs fees deemed intolerable. At that time, a large amount of iPhone traffic was organized in the country against illegal imports. Since the change of government in December 2015, however, Argentina has benefited from a liberal shift, customs duties have been revised for imports. The iPhone is therefore returning to the Argentine market. A tax of 25% is applied on imports products, which places the iPhone 7 at a price of about 2000 dollars. The price is particularly impressive in a country where the average wage is around 950 dollars.
