Victim of hacking, a firm torrent tracker

A private torrent tracker disappears as a result of hacking. Hounddawgs has closed, leaving a legacy of user database.

Hounddawgs was a private torrent tracker which TorrentFreak reported closing. Of Danish origin, Hounddawgs was a place frequented by various groups specialized in sharing torrent files with movies, series and other pirate copy content.

The shutdown followed a data leak on the server. Administrators confirmed the exploitation of a security vulnerability. The attacker would be a certain T-B0ne who had alerted about the fault, but who did not find a listening ear.

As a result of the races, more than 20 GB of exfiltrated data has been published online, while the alleged attacker claims a database of 55 GB with a proportion of 95% of logs. According to t-B0ne, security and encryption were not practiced by Hounddawgs.

Initially, the Hounddawgs administrators had referred to the action of "kiddies" (kids) from another Danish site for torrent files, while hinting a return as soon as possible and denying any damage.

The ZATAZ site was able to consult data including identifiers, email addresses and IP. French speaking users are concerned. Data likely to interest associations fighting against illegal downloading and authorities?
