"Alexa, opens Cortana" or "Cortana, opens Alexa." The integration between the two personal assistants of Amazon and Microsoft will take longer than expected.
Last summer, Amazon and Microsoft unveiled a partnership around their intelligent personal assistants that was to end before the end of 2017. Except that the communication between Alexa and Cortana has not been seen since.
The Thurrott site was surprised by the lack of timely integration and obtained elusive responses from both groups. "We are working on it and we plan to start the deployment soon" and "We will soon have more to share (note: on this topic)".

The project has therefore (a priori) not been killed in the bud. It had been announced access to Alexa via Cortana on Windows 10 computers, then with Android and iOS, and access to Cortana on devices such as Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Show of Amazon operator by default Alexa.
Amazon has indicated that users of Cortana will ask Alexa to control their connected objects in the home or shopping on Amazon.com.
