Samsung is once again demonstrating its memory chip expertise with a new record-breaking 30TB PM1643 SSD drive with V-NAND component integration.
The Samsung Group is affirming its leadership in memory chips with a record-breaking 30T SSD. The PM1643 storage system doubles the capacity of the 15TB PM1633 launched in 2016.
The storage device uses Samsung V-NAND (NAND 3D) memory chips of 512 Gb (64 GB) in 64 layers and 3 bits per cell, allowing it to also double the performance compared to the previous generation.

The PM1643 SSD incorporates 32 1-TB modules of NAND memory, each consisting of 16 V-NAND 512 Gb components. In addition to higher storage density, this configuration also achieves random read and write speeds of 400,000 IOPS and 50,000 IOPS, respectively, and read and write sequential speeds of 2100 Mbps and 1700 Mbps respectively. .
The Samsung PM1643 SSD obviously meets the specific needs of businesses and data centers and promises a MTBF of 2 million hours, with several mechanisms for protection and data recovery.
Samsung has started producing the 30TB SSD PM1643 in small quantities, and the company plans to expand it into smaller capacities, down to 800GB while enjoying improved performance.
