Recently, Samsung's president in China openly criticized smartphone makers: "Many manufacturers are raising prices on their phones, but the Samsung Galaxy S9's price will be the lowest in the world." Without giving more details, it was implied that the S9 would probably be offered cheaper than the Galaxy S8 at launch (it was 800 euros).

But it seems finally that Samsung has chosen to follow the little mockery decried above, increasing again the entry price of its terminal this year. The Galaxy S9 could start at 889 euros, against 999 euros for the Galaxy S9 Plus according to information from the ET News site unearthed from a local operator. Samsung would not cross the symbolic bar of 1000 euros contrary to what had been done with its Galaxy Note 8 proposed from 1009 euros.
