Oculus Go: The virtual reality headset will be manufactured by Xiaomi

Facebook is well aware that its virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift, is inaccessible to the greatest number.
This is why the brand is preparing a version that is both watered down and also autonomous, called Oculus Go.

The Oculus Rift has started a small revolution in the world of video games and entertainment by reviving public interest in virtual reality. Unfortunately, the headset itself is quite expensive, especially since it requires a PC to the configuration strong enough to enjoy it.

Facebook intends to make its technology more accessible by working on two points: revise the high-end orientation of its headphones to make it cheaper, but also make it autonomous by taking advantage of the power of mobile electronics.

During CES in Las Vegas, Facebook has confirmed that the Oculus Go will soon be produced, and big surprise: it is Xiaomi who will manufacture it. The helmet will be powered by components produced by Qualcomm, including Snapdragon 821.

The partnership with Xiaomi will allow the brand to exploit certain Oculus technologies for the development of its own headset, the Mi VR Standalone. Both headsets will share the same data sheet and will be compatible with the Oculus Mobile SDK.

It remains to know when the two helmets will be available, what will be their detailed technical data sheet and what will be the price.
