CES 2018: Lenovo unveils a standalone Daydream headset



Lenovo and Google join forces to launch the standalone Daydream virtual reality headset: the Mirage Solo.


 
HTC had already announced a stand-alone virtual reality headset under Google's Daydream environment. The HTC Vive Focus works well without smartphone or PC, but with a launch reserved for China at the moment.

At the CES 2018, Lenovo unveils its standalone Daydream headset which has been christened Mirage Solo. It also uses WorldSense motion tracking technology on the Daydream platform, without the need for external sensors.

The Lenovo Mirage Solo also ships Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 VR platform. It features an LCD display with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), a refresh rate of 75 Hz, a 110 ° field of view, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space.



The dual camera offers 6 degrees of freedom, while a controller with 3 degrees of freedom accompanies it. Displacements are however limited in a diameter of 1.5 m. With a battery of 4000 mAh, the headphones weighing 645 g is supposed to have a battery life of up to 7 hours.

The Lenovo Mirage Solo headset will be available from the second quarter of this year. The price has not been finalized yet, but in the US market it should be under $ 400.
