CES 2018: The Gameboy will be back soon ... by Hyperkin

While Nintendo has given new life to its flagship consoles of the 80s and 90s NES and Super NES, there is no question of seeing the return GameBoy.
This does not prevent the console from being taken over by third-party manufacturers like Hyperkin who presented a new model at CES in Las Vegas.

In recent years, the GameBoy aroused renewed interest from nostalgic hackers. This momentum is driven by the arrival on the market of nano PCs like the Raspberry Pi Zero which allows to consider the installation of a GameBoy Zero: a portable console plugged into the shell of a GameBoy and offers emulation on color screen.

Hyperkin does not really want to offer this type of product, but tries to ride the nostalgia that accompanies it by unveiling the Ultra Game Boy (name not final machine).

On the menu of this small portable console: an all-aluminum shell, a backlit color LCD screen (we can however turn off the lighting to find the sensations of the time), and a built-in rechargeable battery via a USB-C port for a autonomy announced at 6 o'clock.

Regarding the machine itself, it will be compatible with all old games GameBoy and GameBoy Color ... This may pose some problems, especially because these games are only available on the second hand market, and that some are now selling for gold.

Not sure, however, that Nintendo allows the manufacturer to release such a machine, especially if the brand already has the project to officially release its console ...
