The OnePlus 5T and 5 do not support (yet) HD video streaming

No need to watch HD shows on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, the OnePlus 5 and 5T do not support the associated DRM yet.
But that will come in an upcoming update.

If you're looking to watch videos streaming on services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video in HD quality on OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones, you'll notice that they stay in low quality with some pixelation despite the settings to get them in high definition. This is because the manufacturer's smartphones do not support the Widevine Level 1 DRM necessary for their good distribution.

The Verge website explains that the OnePlus 5T, like the OnePlus 5, only supports Widevine Level 3 DRMs that only cover standard definitions.

So, no HD video streaming possible on OnePlus smartphones? The manufacturer responded by explaining that the appropriate DRMs will be included in an upcoming update ... without specifying from which update or when they will be updated.

In the meantime, the viewing experience may not be optimal, despite the large AMOLED FHD / FHD + displays operated by both smartphones.

And as a reminder, you can find the OnePlus 5T currently on sale at Gearbest at 433.67 € (instead of 499 € official price) for the 64GB version with the code oneplus5y, or 501.70 € (instead of 559 € ) for 128GB version with oneplusgp code. Note also the OnePlus 5 128GB version shipped from France to only 438,50 € with the code Novblacoplus.
