ZTE Axon M: the smartphone with two screens connected by a hinge

The smartphone ZTE Axon M offers a format with two screens foldable thanks to an intermediate hinge ... waiting for the screens rollable and foldable.

The ZTE Axon M smartphone offers an atypical but totally new configuration: two displays linked by a hinge allowing to fold one over the other. Here we find the idea of having a device usable in two distinct conformations: folded like a (large) smartphone or unfolded like a (small) tablet.

This is the idea that will be found in future smartphones offering a flexible display foldable or rollable but in the solution already tried previously a double screen separated by a hinge.

The ZTE Axon M offers two 5.2-inch Full HD displays and a SoC SnapDragon 821 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, expandable by memory card. A 20 megapixel photo module can be found on this model, which can alternatively be used as a main sensor or a selfie module.

The two screens operate in different modes, mirroring or displaying information from one application, and the other with associated data, such as a virtual keyboard, or multitasking with two separate applications open on each screen.

The ZTE Axon M is relatively thick (12.1 mm) and heavy (230 g) and it has a 3180 mAh battery that will not be too much to power both displays. The smartphone is announced at US AT & T and Japanese DoCoMo, with availability by the end of the year (and possibly early 2018 in Europe) at a high-end smartphone tariff (about $ 700).
