Polestar 1: Hybrid electric vehicle for Volvo luxury brand



The Volvo group announces the Polestar 1, the first hybrid vehicle of its luxury brand before the arrival of an all-electric model in 2019.


 
Engaged in a strategy to offer only electric or hybrid vehicles by 2019, the Volvo Group announces a first model for its luxury range Polestar.



The Polestar 1 is a hybrid model that announces this transition with a motorization ensuring 150 km of autonomy in pure electric motorization and a power of 600 horses ensuring it a sporting behavior.


 It is based on a Scalable Platform Architecture (SCA) platform, optimized by Polestar engineers, with an electric rear suspension and a carbon chassis.


 The vehicle, which can be bought online and with a subscription over two or three years, wants to prefigure an evolution that will only materialize with the Polestar 2, totally electric, but not available until 2019.

This second vehicle is already presented as an alternative to the Tesla Model 3, while Polestar 3 will explore the electric SUV segment. The Polestar 1 is a sort of gallop test, with a production in small quantity, before the passage to the all electric.
