Android: a ransomware that changes your PIN

ESET has recently discovered the traffic on Android of a new malware ransomware that implements a blocked smartphone targeted.

ESET nicknamed the ransomware recently found Doublelocker, in relation to its main function since the last one realizes a double blocking of the device.

Released in the form of a fake update of Flash player for Android, DoubleLocker immediately recovers the admin rights under Android. Once these rights are acquired, the ransomware will take care of the encryption of the data of the smartphone: photos, music, files, application ...

 A first blocking is thus in place at the level of the user's data: the software requests a ransom from the owner to retrieve a key enabling the data to be decrypted (0.013 Bitcoins, or the current equivalent of 60 €), with a delay of Otherwise the data will be deleted.

* Prix initial : 29.95€.

But that is not all and then a second blocking happens just after, resulting in the change of the PIN code and thus access to the phone of the user who is then found with an unusable smartphone, which should force him to pay the ransom demanded.

As always ESET indicates that there is no guarantee that hackers will return a decryption key once the ransom is paid, and that it is possible to retrieve access to its terminal (but not its data) by returning to factory settings.
