OnePlus announces the shutdown of the OnePlus 5, for the arrival of the OnePlus 5T / 6

What was only rumor began to clarify after the remarks on Tweeter of the co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei.

It's on Twitter that Carl Pei wrote (innocently) a few words that confirm the rumors we have been reporting for some time.

Using the past in this sentence "OnePlus 5 was more popular than we thought" Pei implicitly confirms the stoppage of the production of OnePlus 5. This is not a surprise, as we told you yesterday , the stock shortage on the official website has already lasted from (too many) many days, in many countries in the world, to be a "real" break. OnePlus has therefore for some time probably already stopped the production of the OnePlus 5 to launch that of its successor, in this case a OnePlus 5T or a OnePlus 6.

Once again, there was nothing very normal, in June 2016 the OnePlus 3 was released, followed in November 2016 by the OnePlus 3T. Then in June 2017 the Oneplus 5 was available, followed probably in November 2017 by his successor.

However, several questions remain unanswered:
  •      what will be the name of this new smartphone?
  •      will the screen be borderless?
  •      what will be the diagonal and definition of the screen?

Regarding the name, one thing is certain, it will be either OnePlus 5T or OnePlus 6.

Regarding the screen, it appears obvious that it will be the heart of this new smartphone. The OnePlus 5 already has a very large amount of memory and the most powerful processor currently available, only the screen can justify the appearance of a new model. In order to mark a break, a simple diagonal change does not seem sufficient, to go from 5.5 "to 5.7" to see 6 "is not in itself a break justifying the shutdown of OnePlus 5. Most likely the screen will be borderless type as is the case for all new models that are currently out.Connoisseurs will have noted that OnePlus belongs to the BBK Electronics group, which also owns the Oppo and Vivo brands. The current OnePlus 5 is very similar to the Oppo R11. Vivo presented last month its Vivo X20 equipped with a borderless screen with a diagonal of 6.01 inches and able to display a definition in 1920 x 1080 with a format in 18: 9. From there to thinking that the OnePlus 5T / 6 will use the same screen there is only one step.

The answer in November ;-)

And for those who do not want to wait, or for whom a 6 "screen would be too big, remember that Gearbest still has a few copies of the OnePlus 5 with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM at a reduced rate of 445, 62 € with the coupon OctAllez5 to enter during the order (559 € official price), or 450,73 € with code oneplus5grey.
