HTC Vive Focus: a standalone virtual reality headset designed with Google



While the brand evoked the fact that it would be necessary to wait before seeing a possible helmet Vive 2, HTC should soon present the Vive Focus, a helmet autonomous created in partnership with Google.



HTC is preparing to unveil the Vive Focus, a standalone virtual reality headset created in partnership with Google around the DayDream platform. The brand would like to give a little freshness to its catalog while the market of high-end RV helmets still struggling to take off.

For HTC, the situation is complicated: the brand had announced plans to separate from its division dedicated to virtual reality. Yet, one could expect a new product that would have the particularity of being autonomous. The HTC Vive Focus would take up a large part of the hardware specificities of the platform of reference that Google has put forward for its universe Daydream, in particular with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon.

The tracking of helmet movements would be ensured by the 6DOF (Six Degrees of Freedom) technology, the helmet being controllable with dedicated controllers.

It is during the conference of Google of October 4th that the brand could announce its partnership with HTC and officially lift the veil on the helmet.
