The iPhone X has already begun to cannibalize the pre-orders of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

Despite its shifted launch, the shadow of the iPhone X hangs on the pre-orders of the Phone 8 and 8 Plus started on September 15, according to the small lengthening of delivery times.

The pre-orders of the iPhone 8/8 Plus began on Friday, September 15 and generated as often longer delivery times, beyond the marketing date of September 22.

However, analysts note that after a rapid shift from one to two weeks delivery, the latter do not evolve, unlike in previous years where they tend to grow.

Either Apple has planned a very large volume of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to launch, that is the expectation of the iPhone X, which will only be available in late October, which already crushes the first sales of new iPhone, note various observers, including Gene Munster, an attentive observer for years of Apple's strategy.

It is expected that the iPhone X does not make the figuration by representing 20% of the volume of iPhone sold next year, against 25 to 30% for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the rest being represented by the older models.

The iPhone X would thus potentially cannibalized about 50% pre-orders of the iPhone 8/8 Plus. However, Apple's sales estimates for the current quarter do not specifically take into account a decline in iPhone sales, despite the absence of the iPhone X whose sales will only be counted from last quarter of the year (which corresponds to the first fiscal quarter of 2018 of the firm).

The impact of the iPhone X on the pre-orders of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will therefore require further observations and reports encrypted to be fully understood and measured.
