Facebook to order to eat

The social network continues its initiatives to keep users in its lair. On the other side of the Atlantic, it is now possible to order food without leaving the Facebook application.

In the US, Facebook users can order take-out or delivery via the web and mobile application from the social networking site. This is not a new Facebook service but a partnership with several existing home food delivery services.

Among these are names such as ChowNow, Delivery.com, DoorDash, EatStreet, Olo, Slice and Zuppler, as well as several food chains: Chipotle, Denny's, El Pollo Loco, Jimmy John's, Panera, Papa John's, TGI Friday's and Wingstop.

An "Order Food" section has been added. The Facebook user has access to a list of partners to order food without leaving the social network application. He can choose to go and get food at the restaurant, or to get delivered at home.

It is especially possible to check out what friends on Facebook have said about a particular restaurant before placing an order. With a given delivery service, the user can use an existing account for it, or create one. Always without leaving the Facebook application.

This option had been tested since last year. It is now made available to all users in the United States. An additional way for Facebook to keep users captive.
