Windows 10: Kaspersky Lab no longer seeks lice at Microsoft

The time is now to appease Microsoft and Kaspersky Lab that welcomes with full satisfaction the changes made in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. No more reason to complain.

Kaspersky Lab has decided to bury the hatchet and will withdraw its complaints against Microsoft. After a complaint with the Federal Antimonopoly Service in Russia, the security solutions publisher did the same with the European Commission and the Federal Office for Combating Cartels in Germany.

Main object of the dispute, an abuse of dominance of Microsoft with Windows on computer and the Windows Defender antivirus proposed by default. After recognizing and explaining a disabling of third-party antivirus in some cases, Microsoft has just announced changes.

Changes will take effect with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, including alerts and notifications for third-party antivirus. Customers will be able to use their own alerts and notifications prior to the need for license renewal and after the expiration of a product.

Microsoft will also modify how Windows 10 notifies users when their antivirus application has expired. The new notification will remain on the screen until you choose to renew the existing solution or rely on Windows Defender or another product.

The Redmond firm is also committed to working even more closely with antivirus vendors, so that any compatibility issues before a mainstream release of Windows 10 can be eliminated upstream. Will result in access to final builds with a sufficient lead time.

"We are fully satisfied with the changes that will be implemented in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update," writes Kaspersky Lab.
