Ryzen: an update for better RAM support

AMD continues to fine-tune the software to exploit the capabilities of its Ryzen family of processors.

Undoubtedly in a hurry, the Ryzen processors of AMD are seduced on paper and by their price positioning. Unfortunately, in reality, everything was not as rosy and it turns out that the R7 processors have some difficulty in exploiting their full potential.

Since their release, AMD has offered several optimizations over many updates. Between the processor load distribution, overclocking problems, crashes in some cases or memory management, AMD has had a lot of work to correct the early defects of its chips.

This time, AMD focuses again on the memory medium and updates the microcode for motherboard manufacturers. It is now a question of proposing a wider compatibility of the RAM with the Ryzen processors.

AMD has announced that it has added no fewer than 23 additional settings for RAM timings as well as new multiplier coefficients. Ryzen processors should therefore handle a wider variety of memory modules, including those operating at frequencies exceeding 2667 MHz and up to 4000 MHz.
