SpaceX: the first manned flight of the Dragon capsule slips to the very end of 2018

SpaceX's first spaceflight capsule flight is still behind schedule and is now scheduled for the end of 2018, as NASA wants to be sure that the transport of astronauts to the ISS by private shuttle will provide all the security guarantees
.

Space shuttle flights designed by private companies are falling behind. Boeing is expected to officially test this year with its CST-100 Starliner capsule, but officials have hinted that they could slip to 2010. And it's SpaceX's turn to see the timing of the first delayed Dragon capsule flights .

Officially, the flights remain for 2018 but with an unmanned test flight in August, followed by a crew flight delayed to December, without specifying the reasons for this delay.

SpaceX, however, specifies that the Crew Dragon capsule program has made good progress throughout 2017 and that the company is able to complete it to carry out the first tests this year, preceded by the qualification tests of the capsule engines, his parachutes but also the tightness of space suits, unveiled last year.

At the same time, NASA has just issued a report in which it says it does not consider using private capsules to bring astronauts aboard the international space station before spring 2019 at best.

The space agency wants to ensure that the flights will be safe but the imposed criteria (no more than one fatal accident every 270 flights) will be difficult to hold, forcing to determine new statistical risks.

Moreover, she still does not seem to be very reassured by SpaceX's practices regarding certain procedures such as filling the launcher's tanks, and these points will have to be validated before sending astronauts into space using a Falcon 9 launcher.
