Nintendo Switch: nearly a million machines sold in France in 2017, a new record

After discussing the success of the Switch in Japan, it is the turn of the French situation to be in the spotlight. And in the hexagon too, the Switch cardboard and exceeds even the success encountered by the Wii in time.

Nintendo can rub its hands: the switch so much criticized during its first presentation really hits all over the world. And if the machine has already surpassed sales of Wii U in Japan, France, the machine also meets a success rarely met by Nintendo for several years.

Nintendo is said to have sold almost 1 million machines on French soil in 2017. More precisely, Nintendo evokes 911,000 consoles sold, which is a real record for the brand, the latest being that of the Wii that had 703,000 copies in one year. As a reminder, Nintendo hoped to sell 800,000 machines in France last year.

Nevertheless, Nintendo remains realistic. Interviewed by Challenges, the brand's general manager France explains that "The key to the successful launch of the Switch is the launch of great games on our console". And this is also what will allow the Switch to last ... In terms of sales of titles, Super Mario Odyssey sold 512,000 copies in France last year, against 508,000 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 410,000 for Zelda Breath of the Wild.

These excellent figures found locally should allow Nintendo to explode its annual objectives. The group hoped to end its fiscal year (in March this year) with 10 million machines sold, figure already exceeded ... Now, it evokes a figure of about 14 million machines sold.
