The Sony brand marked the beginning of the year 2017 by being one of the first to announce a smartphone with SoC SnapDragon 835, at the MWC show in Barcelona at the end of February, even if the actual availability only occurred at the late spring, leaving other smartphones similarly equipped with the time to precede it.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium was followed in the fall of a model Sony Xperia XZ1 also under Snapdragon 835. It could soon know a successor exploiting the new SoC SnapDragon 845 announced in early December in Hawaii by Qualcomm.

A Sony H8216 model has appeared and could be a Sony Xperia XZ2. There would be a 5.5-inch Full HD display, larger than the Xperia XZ1, but in the same format, suggesting a possible 18: 9 ratio display.

7.4 mm thick, this model would be equipped with the SnapDragon 845 SoC with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space, all backed by a 3130 mAh battery with fast charging.

It would have on the back a dual 12 + 12 megapixel photo sensor while the front sensor would now be 15 megapixels. According to the unofficial datasheet, this Sony H8216 / Xperia XZ2 would run Android 8.1 Oreo.

This is probably near the MWC 2018 show in Barcelona (February 26 - March 1) that we will know more about this model and the veracity of the characteristics mentioned.
