Nokia 1: the first Android smartphone Go of the brand?


The Nokia 1 could become the first HMD Global smartphone to support the Android Go initiative bringing the mobile platform to smaller configurations.



The Android Go initiative aims to run the latest developments in Android lite version to integrate smartphones to the light configuration and thus capture new users in emerging markets.


Google has recently announced a version of Android Go based on Android Oreo and capable of running on smartphones with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM only, with adapted Google mobile services.

Several manufacturers have chosen to support this project and we find among them HMD Global, the company producing Nokia-branded smartphones.



His first product Android Go could be the Nokia 1, a smartphone with a small HD display and operating 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage space, according to Russian journalist and consultant Eldar Murtazin.

The details of the configuration of the Nokia 1 is not completely known but the smartphone should be positioned on a price of about 80 € HT. The Chinese manufacturer Huawei is also about to offer a first Android Go smartphone with similar features and price.
