NASA and Google have convened the world for an announcement that will be made live tonight about a major breakthrough in the observation of exoplanets combined with the algorithms of the Net giant.
NASA and Google will hold a joint press conference tonight at 19:00 Paris time. The theme of the conference is the announcement of a major discovery allowed by the implementation of Google's machine learning algorithms in the study of data collected by the Kepler space telescope, and thus exoplanets.
The two entities could thus announce having managed to automate the data analysis thanks to the design of a made-to-measure artificial intelligence. Paul Hertz, director of NASA's Astrophysics Division and Christopher Shallue, AI engineer at Google, will speak at the conference.

Despite some dysfunctions, Kepler continues to collect large amounts of information on space and exoplanets. To date, the volume of unprocessed data is expected to occupy researchers for several decades. The intervention of an AI specialized in the analysis of snapshots and record to confirm the presence of exoplanets could accelerate greatly discoveries.
More optimistic still, NASA and Google could have developed an algorithm able to define if a planet is located in the habitable zone of its star, making it possible to eliminate any other star incapable of sheltering the life.
