Samsung Galaxy X: a patent for the interface of a folding screen smartphone



The Samsung group is preparing a folding screen smartphone for next year and is already thinking about the interface it intends to offer.


 It is likely next year that the Samsung group will offer for the first time a smartphone with foldable display, known as the Samsung Valley code and which could become the Galaxy X.

Beyond the technical challenges to solve hardware side, the Korean group must also anticipate the interface of such a mobile device and its ergonomics. These reflections are transcribed in a recently granted patent detailing the interface of a dual-screen mobile device.

The patent includes several screenshots showing how the interface can adapt depending on whether the device is in portrait or landscape mode, and with separate screens or merged.


 The screenshots suggest that Samsung will opt for a configuration with two separate screens, like the recent ZTE Axon M, rather than for continuous flexible display. Hoping that the manufacturer will avoid giving it the appearance (and thickness) of two smartphones contiguous ...
