OnePlus: Qualcomm explains for EngineerMode and another indiscreet application found


After discovering the potential for rooting on OnePlus smartphones via the EngineerMode application, Qualcomm denies being at the origin, while another application is singled out for its recovery of personal data.


  
The highlighting of the EngineerMode application within some OnePlus brand smartphones has shown that it is possible to exploit its operation to obtain root access.

The application is a tool for verifying the functioning of the smartphone components and has been attributed to the Qualcomm group, provider of SnapDragon SoC present in mobile devices.

Except that Qualcomm denies to be at the origin of the EngineerMode application in the form present in the smartphones of OnePlus. The San Diego group indicates that source code belonging to it is present but that the application has been reworked: "this application EngineerMode no longer looks like the original code that we provided" and has not been validated by Qualcomm.

At the same time, another application in smartphones OnePlus is talking about it.
