The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo advances his pawns for his plan of climate plan in the capital which must eliminate rather quickly the gasoline and diesel vehicles, considered too polluting and ideally replaced by electric vehicles.

After announcing the ban on diesel cars in Paris since 2024, petrol cars will only be entitled to a short stay, as the date of 2030 is now advanced, according to information from Franceinfo.

The expulsion of gasoline and diesel vehicles from the capital will therefore be in principle well before the deadline of 2040 proposed by the Minister of Ecology Nicolas Hulot to finish the sale of new vehicles with pure thermal power in France.

In Paris, it will soon be necessary to rely only on public transport, services and electric vehicles but the City Council argues that 60% of Parisians do not have a vehicle.

This new proposal should however be discussed first by the borough mayors, then by the Paris Council in November, before considering its application.

For diesel, the date of 2024 is also that of hosting the Olympic Games in France. It is a matter of putting in place a strong and symbolic measure, when the principle of selecting vehicles according to the importance of their polluting emissions with the Crit'Air vignettes began.
