Rumor: Xiaomi Mi 6C, the smartphone with Surge S2 home processor?


The Xiaomi Mi 6C could be the next smartphone of the brand to embark a SoC house, and not just any one since it would be the Surge S2 ensuring an upscale, and changing name for the occasion.

Like other smartphone manufacturers, the Xiaomi Group is looking to develop its own mobile processors in order to adapt them to its own needs and to design smartphones capable of differentiating themselves from the competition by new optimizations and functionalities.

The firm has already launched a smartphone with a Surge S1 home chip with the Xiaomi Mi 5C launched earlier this year. Positioned at the entry level, this is more of a test drive to test the market, and already a SoC Surge S2 with higher performance is being prepared.

It could make its appearance at the end of the year in the smartphone Xiaomi Mi 6C whose supposed configuration begins to unveil on the Net. The processor would be engraved in 16 nm at TSMC (previously referred to as a 28 nm engraving) and would offer an octocore configuration with 4 ARM Cortex-A73 and 4 ARM Cortex-A53 and a maximum rate of 2.2 GHz .
 
The Xiaomi Mi 6C would offer an ARM Mali-G71 MP8 GPU and support the UFS 2.1 format for storage and LPDDR4 for RAM, which would place it at about the level of the Huawei Kirin 960.

 
The smartphone Xiaomi Mi 6C is supposed to embed a display with 2.5D glass slab and board a dual photo sensor in the back in configuration 12 + 5 megapixels. Overall, its design would remind the Mi 6 by its display and the Mi 5 for the hull.


It would offer 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of standard storage space, and 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage for the premium model, with respective prices of 1999 yuan (about 250 €) and 2499 yuan (314 € approximately).
