The Surface Book 2 will still offer a 13.5-inch display and an aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis, but it will abandon the 2-in-1 format to adopt the more classic laptop format. Its price should be lower than that of the first Surface Book. DigiTimes evokes a tariff of 1000 dollars, against 1500 to more than 3000 dollars for the initial version. Microsoft would like this time to avoid the pitfall of a price too high limiting demand strongly. The expected volume would be around 1.2 million to 1.5 million units by 2017, while the Surface Pro tablet is expected to grow by 20% with 6 million units delivered this year. The first Surface Book would have sold only 500,000 copies in 2016.
