Nvidia: a new GPU Turing architecture alongside Ampere?

After rumors around a new Ampere architecture for GPU gaming at Nvidia, another name emerges in a Reuters article: Turing.

If the Volta architecture is sparking at Nvidia, it is mainly to meet the computing needs in HPC (High Perfomance Computing) and artificial intelligence.

A declination more suitable for gaming could soon see the light of day and a name began to circulate to evoke this variant: Ampere.

However, an article from Reuters another name for future gaming GPUs that could be announced next month: Turing.

From a terminological point of view, Ampere seemed more coherent compared to Volta, like the Pascal / Kepler couple, while Turing more openly evokes machine learning capabilities rather than gaming.

On the other hand, an ARM server processor design company has just been launched under the name Ampere and Nvidia may have chosen to abandon this denomination to avoid the risk of confusion.

It is also possible that Nvidia wanted a range Turing annex for specific needs alongside Ampere. Some already see the possibility of graphics cards dedicated to mining, although the group has indicated several want to focus on players rather than minors.
