HP launches a booster program for laptop batteries.
In some cases, replacing the battery requires the intervention of a technician.

A potential security risk for users has been identified with some batteries on HP laptops and mobile workstations. The problem affects machines sold worldwide from December 2015 to December 2017.

The affected batteries were supplied with Probook 64x (G2 and G3), ProBook 65x (G2 and G3), x360 310 G2, Envy m6, Pavilion x360, HP 11 and ZBook Mobile Workstations (17 G3, 17 G4) and Studio G3).

According to HP, the problem concerns 0.1% of the systems sold during the period. Cases of overheating have been reported. HP is launching a voluntary free battery replacement program. To find out if a battery needs to be changed, a utility is offered.

The manufacturer points out that many of these batteries are "internal to the system and can not be replaced by the customer." "HP" provides battery replacement services by an authorized technician at no charge. "

Full details on the reminder program are available on this page. If this is the case, HP recommends updating the BIOS to put the battery in safe mode.
