BMW signs partnership with Solid Power to develop solid batteries


The BMW group is following suit with Fisker Automotive and announcing closer to Solid Power to develop a solid battery for its next electric vehicles.


  
BMW has confirmed that it has partnered with Solid Power to develop and produce solid batteries for the German brand's vehicles.

Solid Power was created in 2012 with the support of the American University of Colorado. It has been designing and producing solid batteries for almost 6 years and this technology could be particularly interesting for electric vehicles. Unlike batteries with a liquid electrolyte, these batteries are solid, they offer longer battery life, faster charging, longer battery life and are less dangerous if overcharged or damaged.

  This type of battery interests automakers like Fisker, Toyota or even Google who seek to develop their own technologies. They could equip the majority of electric vehicles within a few years.
