Smartphone sales: Samsung progresses, Apple stagnates, Huawei in ambush

According to the latest report of smartphone sales in the world shared by IDC, Samsung remains ahead of Apple in the third quarter of this year.

Samsung has just signed a record third quarter in the smartphone market. The South Korean brand is once again the leader in mobile device sales around the world and claims more than 83.3 million smartphones sold in the quarter.

The South Korean manufacturer has gained 22.3% market share, with an increase in volume of 9.5% compared to the same period last year.

Behind, we find Apple with 46.7 million iPhones sold in the quarter, an evolution of only 2.6% over the year and a market share of 12.5%. Note that at the same time in 2016, Apple already had exactly the same market share when Samsung had only 20.9%. The Asian brand has managed to progress where Apple stagnates.

In third place, we also find Huawei that does not spoil its pleasure to display 39.1 million smartphones sold in the quarter for 10.5% of market share. The Chinese manufacturer is thus 2 percentage points just Apple and intends to continue its development strategy to jostle a little more or even replace Apple and afford the second place in the ranking.
