Apple makes recommendations for the first time use of an AMOLED display in the iPhone X and discusses the possibility of burn-in.
For its iPhone X, Apple has opted for a display AMOLED provided by Samsung, offering superior capabilities compared to the LCD in terms of contrast and liveliness of colors, but also with some limitations specific to the OLED.
In its support pages, the Cupertino company indicates that changes in hue when the screen is viewed on the sides, and not face, are normal with this type of screen and that the latter, in prolonged use, can to know burn-in effects, with elements of a high-contrast image always appearing in an evanescent way while the contents of the display have changed, and disappearing only after a certain time.

These effects were also noted on the Pixel 2 XL smartphone and within a few short weeks, leading Google to conduct an investigation and no longer display the virtual function keys at the bottom of the screen.

While protecting itself, Apple still points out that the AMOLED screens have been specifically designed and adjusted to minimize the possible effects of burn-in.
