Samsung Galaxy S9: facial recognition becomes clearer



Samsung would have ordered 3D modules to integrate an advanced facial recognition mechanism into its Galaxy S9 reference smartphone.

The arrival of the iPhone X and its Face ID feature enabled by a TrueDepth module capable of scanning the face encourages Android smartphone manufacturers to try to offer similar systems.

OnePlus is trying to ride this trend for its OnePlus 5T smartphone with a less elaborate Face Unlock system that will unlock the mobile device.

For its part, the Samsung group could try to get closer to what offers Apple and iPhone X by integrating in turn a 3D module in its future Galaxy S9 smartphone, according to Business Korea.

Rumors of this have steadily emerged and the Korean press now claims that the manufacturer has ordered 3D components for its 2018 smartphones.
