Windows 10: the latest security patch is problematic

The latest upgrade to Windows 10 security side currently poses quite a few problems to users with sometimes unfortunate consequences.

This week, Microsoft was pushing a KB4041676 stamped update to users with the Windows 10 creators update. Launched automatically or downloaded manually by users, the patch would sometimes cause more or less serious problems depending on the hardware.

Thus, more and more users report an update that blocks without ever ending, looped reboots, or BSOD (blue screen of death).

On Microsoft forums, we can see that companies are also concerned, with chaotic situations. A user indicated that they had installed the update on all the computers in a company and found a blue screen on all 5500 globally administered workstations, with the message "inaccessible boot device" appearing.

Microsoft explained that it had corrected the shooting for the companies, the problem coming from a simultaneous update of the patch with another one.

For other users, a beginning explanation was found. This would be an incompatibility between the patch and the driver of the USB Type-C interfaces. Microsoft recommends that users disable the UCSI (USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface) to unblock the update ... In other words, it will be necessary to dispense with this type of port until another update will solve the problem.

Microsoft also proposes to uninstall its antivirus time to do the update, or attempt to use the Windows Update troubleshooter, but nothing is 100% guaranteed. A fix should be offered quickly by Microsoft, remains to be seen when.
