The iPhone 8 would actually be an iPhone Edition

The names of the future iPhone announced on September 12th may not be those widely used by the press to evoke them for several quarters.

This September 12, Apple should in principle unveil three new iPhone, with two models following the standard range and a special version to celebrate the ten years of the iPhone brand and which will benefit from many innovations.

No information having officially filtered, these three models were denominated by default by the press: iPhone 7S and 7S Plus and iPhone 8, but nothing says that it will be the final denomination chosen by Apple.

Several names have already circulated for the iPhone 8 (iPhone X, iPhone Edition ...) and according to information from 9to5Mac, several manufacturers of cases and shell have begun to change the denominations.

The iPhone 7S and 7S Plus would thus be in fact the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus while the iPhone 8 would eventually become the iPhone Edition, a name already put forward several months ago.

The standard iPhone would therefore jump from the "S" version to a version 8, a change in the firm's habits for several years.

For the iPhone Edition at least, the presence of a Qi wireless charge seems to be proven, with low power operation. And if Lightning connectivity remains topical, migration to USB-C seems inevitable for shell and case manufacturers.
