iPhone X: KGI's sales forecast down

The lag of launch of the iPhone X compared to the iPhone 8/8 Plus will limit its volume available at the end of the year but will give more visibility to the standard models at first.

If the iPhone X was introduced at the same time as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on September 12, it will only be available on November 3rd. This shift, coupled with production difficulties that have delayed its production, leads analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, to lower the volume estimate of the iPhone X at the end of the year.
With this schedule, Apple should therefore sell about 40 million iPhone X, instead of a range that could have climbed up to 50 million. The analyst also suggests that the balance between supply and demand will only be made during the first half of 2018 at best.

This offbeat launch will however have the advantage of not letting the iPhone X cannibalize the initial sales of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, believes the analyst, and in fact not having a major impact on revenue in the current quarter.

It remains to be seen whether the late arrival of the iPhone X will not curb the buyer's ardor towards the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus over the crucial period of the first weeks of marketing but the delivery dates of the latter have already begun to decline , suggesting that demand remains strong.
