The new monthly security update from Android fixes 13 critical flaws in remote code execution. For Android Oreo too.
The September security update for Android fixes a total of 81 vulnerabilities, including 13 remote code execution critics. It is a bit more than the previous months in terms of critical flaws.
However, Google says it has not received reports about active exploitation for any of the new issues identified. Unsurprisingly, the critical jackpot is for the Media Framework.
Three critical vulnerabilities are also fixed and affecting the kernel network subsystem, Qualcomm components and Broadcom Wi-Fi chipsets. A priori, there is no alert as was the case with Broadpwn.
This monthly security update is the first since the availability of Android 8.0 in final version. In this case, Android Oreo is less concerned with patches than other versions of Android, without escaping however four critical flaws in Media Framework.
