NASA: Before going on Mars, astronauts will spend a year around the Moon

Before considering the human exploration of Mars, NASA plans to send the astronauts orbiter for a year around the moon towards the end of the decade. As part of a process to eventually send humans to Mars in the 2030s, NASA is considering sending astronauts to practice life in space by orbiting for a year around the Moon before the end of the decade. It will therefore be necessary to build a station that will be used to test the technologies but which should also become the starting point for future Martian missions. In fact, it would be installed in at least five missions, four of them inhabited, to prepare the spaceport and its habitat (of which Boeing recently gave an idea with its Deep Space Gateway concept), the last mission being to bring a space Rocket capable of taking humans to Mars. It is in 2027 that NASA plans to orbit astronauts around the Moon for one year on board this rocket to collect as much valuable information as possible before launching the round trip to Mars in 1000 days in Years. It is in principle the SLS (Space Launch System) launcher of NASA that will bring the payloads and humans (aboard the Orion capsule) necessary for the construction of the station orbiting around the Moon, but l The space agency says the project is likely to evolve as partnerships with domestic and international private companies will be established.
