iPhone 2018: MediaTek could provide some of the modems

In full dispute with Qualcomm, Apple could turn to MediaTek for the supply of some of the modems for its iPhone in 2018.

The firm Apple has been challenging since the beginning of the year the amount of royalties claimed by its supplier Qualcomm, putting pressure on the supply of modems iPhone and iPad.

The Cupertino company has already begun to expand the number of suppliers for this component by using Intel and it is rumored that another player could enter the loop: MediaTek.

  The latter has a chance to recover part of the production of mobile modems, the result of tensions between Apple and Qualcomm, and this next year thanks to its production capacity and attractive rates.

However, MediaTek may be a temporary palliative and observers suggest that it will be difficult for it to be part of the regular suppliers of the California firm on modems.
