Microsoft will invest in video game studios to offer exclusives

Microsoft returns (once again) his jacket: after having closed several studios of development, the group announces to wish to invest to ensure to propose exclusivities on its Xbox One.

In recent years, it has been rare for third-party publishers to grant exclusivity to various video game consoles. Apart from Nintendo which is an exception to the radically original orientation of its hardware, exclusive on PS4 and Xbox One are only temporary.

Finally, the only solution to have real exclusivities is to produce them yourself ... And Microsoft discovers it late, after closing Lionhead Studios or canceling Scalebound ...

According to Phil Spencer, Microsoft should buy or create new development studios in the coming months to ensure some exclusives on its Xbox One and Xbox One X. The goal will be to propose something other than the three exclusive licenses at the console: Halo, Forza and Gears of War and offer a bit of freshness and novelty.

In addition, investments for temporary exclusives are often paid high prices for results not always significant ... Let's just hope that Microsoft will not buy other studios to close a few months later.
