Firefox: redesign of the portal of extensions before Quantum

Before Firefox Quantum arrives and WebExtensions by default, the Mozilla AMO site is getting a new look.

After a preview, the redesign of Mozilla's AMO portal (addons.mozilla.org) is deployed. It is the official host of add-ons for the Firefox browser, knowing that there will be a big mess this month.

It is indeed next week that Firefox 57 alias Firefox Quantum will be available in stable version (currently in beta). For the occasion, WebExtensions will become the standard format for extensions. Older extensions based on XUL and XPCOM will no longer work.

This major change is not sufficiently emphasized on the new AMO site. It would have been convenient, for example, to propose a tag to quickly identify the extensions that made the switch and that will be compatible with Firefox Quantum.

However, the new portal has several filters for searches and is more convenient than the Chrome Web Store. Of course, as with any change, it takes time to adapt to find its bearings, such as to access comments for example.

The new AMO was developed with React and Redux. The front-end and the back-end are separated and communicate via an API. The site is adaptive to suit different screen sizes and orientations.
