Fast Pair: Google simplifies bluetooth synchronization with devices

Google wants to make life easier for Android users who have multiple Bluetooth devices by launching Fast Pair, a feature that will make it easier to sync wireless devices.

Pairing a Bluetooth device with your mobile device is not always a quick or easy thing: you have to go to the menus, activate the Bluetooth on your device if necessary, launch a search that can be painstaking, then to attempt a synchronization.
Fast Pair

To avoid all these manipulations, Google has recently developed Fast Pair, a technology that will make the process easier. When the mobile device spotting a device in pairing mode, a notification should appear in Android inviting the user to synchronize the latter with his smartphone. Then just tap on the popup and synchronization is done of itself.

The system operates automatically: when a device is in Bluetooth synchronization mode, it sends a Bluetooth LE signal to the terminal. Google's servers are contacted to retrieve the name of the device and an image, and an alert is launched on the smartphone. If a specific application allows to control the device in question, a second window will notify the user with a link to the Play Store.

Unfortunately, for Fast Pair to work, devices will need to be compatible. Currently only a few headsets are, including Google Pixel Buds or Libratone QAdapt On-Ear. Other headphones should be compatible with Fast Pair, this technology makes sense only if all Bluetooth devices become compatible, hope that manufacturers will be seduced by the concept.
