Facebook: a self-destructing status

Facebook is conducting a test to revamp the statutes. Statuses with an expiration date and text only.

  
With the Facebook social network, a profile picture can be added on a temporary basis. The user can choose a return date from his previous profile picture to replace the new one that was only temporary.

As ephemeral is fashionable, the social network also tests temporary status. Only text can be up to 101 characters long. This is a return to a time when Facebook was not forcing on photos and videos.

The test was confirmed by Facebook to BuzzFeed News. "We are testing an update that allows users to set a temporary status on their profile to let their friends know what they are doing or feeling in the present moment."

The temporary status can be set with an expiration date. Moreover, the user can choose whether it appears in the news feed of other people, or only on his profile.

As often, you can not help finding a Snapchat side in this new addition to attract younger users.
