To cope with the limited number of HTML5 applications available in the Chrome Web Store, Google offers access to Google Play Store mobile apps on selected chromebooks, bringing a wide range of software.
This feature, essentially provided in beta, was to be extended to all new chromebooks in the market in 2017. But because this access to Android applications has lagged, new products can not yet be launched.
First troubleshoot compatibility and display issues
--All applications are not fully functional on Chrome OS, causing crashes or aberrant operations, while the display, designed for mobile devices, does not always offer a user experience worthy of the name.
Google seems to prefer to work on these aspects rather than let the new chromebooks land in the market with a user experience not completely satisfactory.
The arrival of Microsoft's Windows 10S system, which wants to compete frontally with Chrome OS and chromebooks, could also require Google to accelerate the pace not to lose the conquered ground in the education market.
