Freebox mini 4K: Android TV Nougat to test

Android TV updates are rare for the Freebox mini 4K. She is preparing to move to not Oreo but Nougat.

The Freebox mini 4K was launched in March 2015 with a multimedia box - or Freebox mini Player - with Android TV version 5.0 (Lollipop). Following the deployment of a mid-2016 update, there was a switch to Android TV 5.1.1.

From now on, the Freebox mini 4K prepares to move to Android TV Nougat in a version 7.1. It is proposed to participate in a beta test prior to the consumer deployment for the subscribers concerned.

The registration form is sobering as it is stated that it will not be possible to request Free assistance in the event of a problem. Any bugs must be reported on the Freebox bugtracker.

Another warning, it will not be possible to return to the previous version once the update applied. A beta test that is more for advanced users.

It is not clear what specifically to expect from the update. One clue among others, Android TV Nougat introduced the Picture in Picture (PiP). Problem, a developer Freebox has already indicated that the PiP will be "not supported by the hardware."
