Apple has just
changed the terms of use of its music streaming platform in a few
countries: the three-month trial offer is no longer free.
Apple wanted to stand out from the competition, including Spotify, with its Apple Music platform by not offering a free offer. Where
the Swedish firm offers a free, unlimited offer that is funded by
advertising, Apple has put its money on a single, paying offer.
But to seduce the public, Apple had launched its service with the assurance of taking advantage of it for free for three months.
Unfortunately, these three free months are no longer relevant in some countries, including Australia, Switzerland and Spain. Apple now offers the first three months for 99 cents.
Contacted on this subject, Apple simply confirmed that "prices and promotions vary from one country to another", without giving more information as to this turnaround. Recall that in Hong Kong, the free trial period has always been limited to 1 month.
One could see Apple's desire to sort in its users and make sure to offer a trial period only to those really willing to switch to the paid offer.
